Have you got three hours a week to spare?
Would you like to make a difference to the lives of young people?
The Youth Enquiry Service recruits 2-3 times a year for volunteers to help run its drop in and counselling service. We would love to hear from you.
The Youth Enquiry Service provides a free and confidential counselling, information and support service for young people living in the - area. The project is staffed primarily by our trained volunteers who are line managed and supported by two paid workers from - County Council.
Our volunteers help staff the busy drop in, which is open 5 days a week. Our Volunteers use listening skills and a non judgemental approach, they spend time with young people, assessing their needs and helping them explore and understand their options. Support can be given on a wide range of topics, sometimes practical help is needed, for example help with filling in forms or the use of the phone to enquire about jobs, benefits or accommodation.
If you are interested, please download the forms on the right-hand side of the page and send them in to us. If your application is successful, we will be in touch to arrange an interview and training.
Volunteer Counsellors wanted
Counselling placements for volunteers are available at YES. These are open to counsellors who are fully qualified or in the final stages of training. YES has a predominantly Person Centred approach to counselling, but also offers Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Counselling appointments are available during our normal drop in hours and during the evening between 5.30 – 8pm. Counselling placements are given on the condition that counsellors continue to keep up their drop in shifts.
If you are interested, please download the forms on the right-hand side of the page and send the completed forms to us. If your application is successful, we will be in touch to arrange an interview and training. After completion of the training course, volunteers are placed on the drop in rota for a probation period of 3 months, this is followed by a 20 minute role play to assess counselling skills and competency.
